The musicians of Strata, Nathan Williams, clarinet, James Stern, violin/viola, and Audrey Andrist, piano, have been performing together since 1988. All three hold the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Julliard School, where they gave some of their first performances as an ensemble. Strata has appeared in concert throughout North America, most recently at the University of California at Davis, and in Saskatchewan, Canada, in a concert recorded for CBC Radio. As resident artists at the 1994 Banff Festival of the Arts in Canada, they were presented in a wide array of concerts. Strata was recently a featured ensemble at the Music Teachers' Association of California annual convention and, during the 1997-98 season, presented their highly successful San Francisco debut for Composers, Inc. Highlights of their 1999-2000 season include a second CD recording project, recitals throughout the country, and a concert in San Francisco comprised entirely of world premiere works written for the group.
