“Mad Love Sweet Love”

“Everyone falls in love sometimes, sometimes is wrong, sometimes is right…” sang Whitney Houston in her 1995 hit “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)”. She was right. Love appears in least opportune moment and shows us many faces.  Sometimes it is idyllic, sweet, and happy, sometimes mad, unfulfilled, and unhappy. There are many kinds of love, but only one album which shows various aspects of love – “Mad Love Sweet Love”. The album boasts big stars, like rebellious Amy Winehouse, phenomenal Duffy, or timeless Minnie Riperton, as well as an inspired array of very talented artists, who contributed to the album, like Lisa Richards, Ella Jones, Liz Clark, Paul McNamara,  Jordan Critz, Zoë Theodorou, Nadine Loren, or Friederike Sipp. “Mad Love Sweet Love” is just in time for Valentine’s Day!
The album has been released by QL Music under exclusive license from Arizona University Recordings, and distributed by Universal Music Poland.

"Herbineaux et Penn réailsent un mélange harmonieux qui fait des deux hommes des poètes de la musique."
Nelly Brousmiche, Le Rappel, Belgium, 18 Février 1994

This project began when, in April 1993, Pierre Herbineaux, then a guest artist at the University of Arizona School of Music, met with Dr. William Penn, visiting professor of composition at the University of Arizona.  Mr. Herbineaux adapted "A Cornfield In July and the River," one of Penn's newer compositions, for the harmonica and, in October ‘93, they premiered the harmonica and piano version of "Cornfield" as part of a chamber music concert of the works of William Penn at the University of Arizona/ Tucson. It was that particular concert that served as the springboard for the establishment of the duo. Since that concert, Herbineaux and Penn have performed numerous concerts in the USA, as well as in Belgium and London, England where they were invited to Larry Adler’s 80th birthday celebration at Geroge Martin’s newly built Air Recording Studios. The duo considered limiting their repertoire to the classical field, but they had so much fun playing light classical and (as Penn coined it) "Cabaret Pop" music that they decided to adandon the strictly classical format for one of more fun and accessibility for a wide variety of audiences.

Herbineaux and Penn have recently appeared on SONY/ BMG's 4CD Box Set "The 2nd Smooth Jazz Avenue, The Greatest Moments in Smooth Jazz History" and Universal Music's 4 CD Box Set "Living With The Classics."

"Lifting The Veil" CD & Booklet by super saxophonist George Wolfe and The New Millennium Ensemble.

Using the saxophone as his voice, George Wolfe combines his artistry with sound synthesis and other contemporary media to explore the connection between music, cosmology, mythology, and religion through both contemporary and traditional compositions. The structure of each piece performed relates to either classical or contemporary world views. Dr. Wolfe has also created an approach to classical improvisation which he skillfully demonstrates on the opening and closing compositions on this CD. The CD includes the music of John Cage, Mozart, J.S. Bach, Ryo Noda, M. William Karlins, and Jody Nagel. The CD also comes with a separate booklet titled Program Notes on Music and Cosmology by Dr. George Wolfe, Professor of Music at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

$19.85 (includes free shipping in the US), additional charge for overseas.
